Bike Maintenance Costs
The cost of owning a motorcycle includes more than fuel and the purchase price. Service intervals, consumables, tyres, repairs and local labour rates all contribute to running costs.
Costs worth tracking
- Scheduled service and labour charges
- Engine oil, oil filters and air filters
- Tyres, puncture repairs and wheel-related work
- Chain cleaning, lubrication and chain-sprocket replacement
- Brake pads, brake fluid and other wear items
- Unscheduled repairs and replacement parts
Make cost comparisons fair
Record the motorcycle model and variant, date, odometer reading, city, workshop type and itemised bill where available. Prices vary by location, parts choice and service centre; an isolated bill should not be treated as a universal cost.
